How can you find these web pages dedicated to available rooms? The easiest way is to search for the name of your city and words like housing, room, apartment, kamer. Both on Facebook and on the specific websites, the process consists of sending a personalized message, or an email, followed by a night organized by the owners where they can meet the applicants. After this, they will choose the new tenant.

To maximize your chances, we recommend you to first send a message in Dutch, mentioning that you only speak English and you are looking for an accommodation. LSRS TIP: If you choose to rent a room from someone off the internet, you have to pay very close attention to the authenticity of the offers. Preferably, you should visit the apartment or the room that you want to rent before signing the contract. Never transfer the rent or the deposit before signing the contract and check if it is possible to register at the municipality at that address. Some houses/apartments can have a higher number of residents registered at the municipality than the legal limit.
